Name of Activity 1:  National Flag Raising Ceremony

Grade Level: K1-K3

 Activity goal:

  1. Get to know the national flag and national anthem of the country from an early age.
  2. Get to know the etiquette to observe during the flag-raising ceremony
  3. Build an attitude of respect for the national anthem, flag and flag raising ceremony.

Activity introduction:

Every Friday, members of our school’s uniformed team, “Happy Bees,” lead the entire school in flag-raising ceremonies. In addition, flag-raising ceremonies are held on the opening day of each semester, National Security Education Day (April 15), Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day (July 1), and National Day (October 1) to cultivate students’ national values ​​and strengthen their sense of national identity.

 

 


Name of Activity 2:  Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration

Grade Level: K1-K3

Activity goal:

By celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival with students and parents, children can gain a deeper understanding of the origins of the festival, traditional customs and festive foods (such as mooncakes, lanterns, etc.), and experience the profound significance of family reunion in Chinese culture.

Activity introduction:

  1. To help children experience the festive atmosphere in advance, teachers led children in making creative lanterns on the eve of Mid-Autumn Festival. They also shared Mid-Autumn Festival legends and traditional customs through engaging picture books.
  2. Furthermore, the school will host a heartwarming Mid-Autumn Festival gala on the eve of the Moon. We sincerely invite all students, parents, and alumni to return to campus to gather with teachers and faculty to admire the bright moon, enjoy festive delicacies, and celebrate the arrival of Mid-Autumn Festival together in a joyful atmosphere of family-school integration. 

 

 


Name of Activity 3: Enjoying Lunar New Year fair ‧ Shopping for Lunar New Year’s Eve

Grade Level: K1-K3

Activity goal:

  1. Let students know the traditional customs of the Chinese New Year and enjoying the atmosphere of the Lunar Year festive.
  2. Learn to contribute to the family in Lunar New Year.

Activity introduction:

  1. Members of the Parent-Teacher Association prepare Lunar New Year’s items together with the children.
  2. Members of the Parent-Teacher Association used the items which made by the children to set up the Lunar New Year Fair stalls, so that the children could experience the fun and atmosphere of “going for the Lunar New Year Fair”.

 

 

  


Name of Activity 4:  Mother’s Day Celebration

Grade Level: K1-K3 and Parents

Activity goal:

This Mother’s Day celebration aims to integrate gratitude education into practical actions: children learn to translate their love and gratitude for their mothers into tangible actions by preparing small gifts, preparing refreshments, singing songs, and expressing their gratitude through hugs and words. This not only promotes traditional Chinese virtues, embodying the “Book of Filial Piety” principle that “one’s body and hair are from one’s parents” and the Confucian principle that “filial piety comes first,” but also, from a Christian perspective, fulfills the divinely blessed promise of “Honor your father and mother” in the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:12). This allows children to fully develop the value of filial piety through cultural heritage and religious instruction.

Activity introduction:

  1. On the eve of Mother’s Day, students, under the guidance of their teachers, will personally create a unique Mother’s Day gift to express their love for their mothers.
  2. On the Friday before Mother’s Day, mothers will be invited to spend the holiday with their children. Activities include enjoying student singing, collaborative flower arranging, and enjoying tea and snacks prepared by the children, creating a memorable and joyful morning for the mothers.

 

 


Name of Activity 5:  Father’s Day Celebration

Grade Level: K1 – K3 and Parents

Activity goal:

This Father’s Day celebration aims to integrate gratitude education into daily life through concrete actions. Children not only personally prepared small gifts, refreshments, and sang songs for their fathers, but also expressed their gratitude through hugs and words, learning to translate their love and gratitude for their fathers into tangible actions.

This activity incorporates traditional Chinese wellness culture, inviting a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner to the school to provide guidance in acupressure massage for parents and children. Children will learn simple massage techniques with their fathers and practice using a massage stick, gaining a firsthand understanding of filial piety—expressing care through action. This activity is not only a healthy activity but also deeply embodies the “Book of Filial Piety” principle, “Our bodies and hair are inherited from our parents,” and the Confucian principle that “filial piety comes first,” promoting traditional Chinese virtues.

Activity introduction:

  1. On the eve of Father’s Day, students, under the guidance of their teachers, will personally craft a unique Father’s Day gift to express their love for their fathers.
  2. On the Friday before Father’s Day, fathers will be invited to celebrate the holiday with their children. Activities include: enjoying student singing, a live Chinese acupressure massage session taught by a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, and enjoying refreshments prepared by the children, creating a memorable and joyful morning for the fathers.

 


Name of Activity 6: Chinese Art – Chinese Dance

Grade Level: K2-K3

Activity goal:

  1. Invite Chinese dance instructors to set up interest classes in the school, and let students who are interested in Chinese dance sign up to participate, so as to deepen their understanding of the basic skills of Chinese dance.
  2. Arrange dance class students to represent the school in dance competitions or festival performances in order to enhance students’ teamwork ability and self-confidence.

Activity introduction:  One interest class classroom activity every week.


Name of Activity 7: Chinese Art – Shaolin Kung Fu

Grade Level: K1-K3

Activity goal:

  1. Invite professional Shaolin Kungfu masters to the school to provide regular Shaolin Kungfu classes, so that students can learn Shaolin Kungfu and strengthen their bodies.
  2. Invite Shaolin Kungfu masters to set up interest classes in the school, so that students who are interested in Shaolin Kungfu can sign up to participate, so as to strengthen the exercise of Shaolin basic skills.
  3. Arrange Shaolin Kung Fu class students to represent the school to participate in the “Dragons and Lions Unite to Celebrate 75 Years of Nation Building”, “Understanding Chinese Culture” activities and perform in schools in the district to enhance students’ teamwork ability and self-confidence.

Activity introduction:

  1. One regular class per week.
  2. One interest class classroom activity every week.

 

 


Name of Activity 8:  Family Tangyuan Making: A Taste of Winter Solstice Festival

Grade Level: K1-K3

Activity goal:

Parents and children are invited to join us in a warm and festive Lantern Festival by making glutinous rice balls (tangyuan). By making these tangyuan, which symbolize reunion and happiness, children can experience traditional festival customs and appreciate the core value of family reunion in Chinese culture. This activity also creates a sweet and heartwarming time for families to interact and build beautiful memories.

Activity introduction:

Invite instructors to the school to teach parents and students the skills of making glutinous rice balls, allowing children and parents to experience the atmosphere of reunion during the Lantern Festival.

 


Name of Activity 9:  Chinese New Year Block Printing Workshop

Grade Level: K1-K3

Activity goal:

  1. Cultural Heritage: Helping children understand the profound cultural connotations and auspicious symbols of the Chinese New Year calligraphy “Fai Chun” (Fai Chun), and introducing them to traditional writing tools, fostering an interest in traditional Chinese culture.
  2. Emotional Expression: Providing a creative platform for parent-child collaboration, allowing families to express their best wishes and aspirations for the new year through the use of Fai Chun calligraphy.
  3. Parent-Child Inclusion: Fostering interaction and collaboration between parents and children, allowing them to spend meaningful time together in traditional artistic creation.

Activity introduction:

Professional instructors are invited to the school to provide step-by-step guidance to parents and children in the art of rubbing. Parents and children collaborate to create unique and exclusive “Fai Chun” using traditional tools, experiencing the joy of practicing traditional techniques and incorporating New Year hopes and blessings into their ink-scented creations.

 

 


Name of Activity 10:  Creative Family Fai Chun Workshop

Grade Level: K1-K3

Activity goal:

  1. Cultural Heritage: Helping children understand the profound cultural connotations and auspicious symbols of the Chinese New Year calligraphy “Fai Chun” (Fai Chun), and introducing them to traditional writing tools, fostering an interest in traditional Chinese culture.
  2. Emotional Expression: Providing a creative platform for parent-child collaboration, allowing families to express their best wishes and aspirations for the new year through the use of the Fai Chun.
  3. Parent-Child Inclusion: Fostering interaction and collaboration between parents and children, allowing them to spend meaningful time together in traditional artistic creation.

Activity introduction:

The school social worker invites parents and students to create a collage using precious family photos, colorful craft-foam-glitter or shimmering stone stickers and other art materials. Parents and children work together to create an artistic “Fai Chun” that embodies the meaning of “home” and expresses the family’s beautiful vision for the future.

 

 

 


Name of Activity 11:  Chinese New Year Poon Choi Party

Grade Level: K1-K3

Activity goal:

  1. Through the experience of sharing a reunion dinner with teachers and students, students will learn about the core values ​​of Lunar New Year’s traditional culture of family reunion and celebration.
  2. Students will be guided to explore the history of “poon choi,” the ingredients used, and its auspicious meaning of “layer upon layer” and “abundant sharing.”
  3. By sharing a meal together as a family, teachers and students will not only foster emotional connections but also allow students to appreciate that Lunar New Year is a traditional festival filled with warmth and joy.

Activity introduction:

On Lunar New Year’s Eve, the school prepared a traditional “poon choi” dish for each class, symbolizing “abundant harvest” and “reunion and harmony.” Teachers and students gathered together to enjoy this auspicious reunion dinner. During the meal, teachers explained the origins and stories of “poon choi” and shared the auspicious blessings embedded in each layer of the dish. This provided the students with a cultural feast that was both delicious and highly educational, immersing them in the rich flavors of the Lunar New Year.

 


Name of Activity 12:  Parent-child Chinese ink painting

Grade Level: K1-K3

Activity goal:

  1. To introduce children to ink painting, familiarizing them with traditional calligraphy and painting tools such as brushes, rice paper, and ink, allowing them to appreciate the unique beauty of ink and wash painting and foster an interest in and appreciation for Chinese culture.
  2. To allow parents and children to experience the brushwork and joy of ink painting through collaborative creation, unleashing their creativity and imagination to create unique works within this traditional art form.
  3. To provide a platform for calming and focused parent-child interaction, fostering communication and collaboration through the interplay of brush and ink, and enhancing emotional connection between parents and children.

Activity introduction:

Professional instructors will be invited to the school to guide parents and children step by step through the techniques of Chinese ink painting. Parents and children can then collaborate to create a playful ink painting of “Adorable Baby Panda.” Enjoy moments of focused concentration and creativity amidst the fragrance of ink, and experience together the profound charm of traditional Chinese art.
