On June 3, our school proudly held the 36th Graduation Ceremony. This year’s theme was “Dreams”, and each class took the stage to perform around this inspiring idea. Whether aspiring to be a doctor, an airport officer, Spider-Man, or a race car driver, the children’s performances were filled with innocence, creativity, and passion, showing the purest form of their dreams.
During the ceremony, Principal Mang Yi shared heartfelt words with parents: “Please give children the space to choose, respect their dreams, and allow them to decide their own path. As parents, we don’t need to pave the way for them; we only need to accompany them patiently, offering support and trust. Because only children with confidence and courage can create a fulfilling life; they will then be able to contribute to the nation, society, and shine as salt and light for God—illuminating themselves and blessing others.”
On the program booklet, above the “Dream-Building Stage”, two meaningful quotes were printed:
-
“There are two lasting bequests we can give our children: one is roots, the other is wings.”
-
“There Are Two Lasting Bequests We Can Give Our Children: Roots and Wings.”
These words remind us that graduation is not only a celebration for children, but also a message for parents. Parents must learn to let go at the right time, allowing children to explore the world, spread their wings, and bravely pursue their own lives. At the same time, children should know that no matter how high they fly or how many challenges they face, there will always be a warm and accepting safe haven behind them.
Finally, let us remember this thought-provoking saying:
-
“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
May our children, standing on the stage of dreams, find their own direction, and with both roots and wings, soar courageously into the future.
