Message from the Principal~Parenting in the AI Era

As artificial intelligence rapidly reshapes our world, the meaning of education and parenting is quietly shifting. This reflection shares my thoughts on raising children in the AI generation, and I hope it resonates with every parent.

In this fast‑changing era, AI is permeating learning, work, and daily life at unprecedented speed. It can instantly organize information, explain concepts, and generate answers, transforming how knowledge is transmitted and driving the evolution of civilization. This is a profound social change, comparable to the Industrial Revolution.

As educators and parents, we must ask: when AI can “provide answers,” what is the true purpose of education? The answer is clear—education must move from “knowledge transmission” to “ability cultivation.” Children may rely on AI to solve problems, but what truly matters is their ability to ask good questions, to judge, and to create. Real competitiveness no longer lies in memorizing answers, but in verifying, questioning, and exploring new possibilities.

That is why our school’s educational core focuses on nurturing abilities that AI cannot replace:

  • Critical thinking: the courage to analyze and question, not blindly accept.

  • Value judgment: the ability to discern right from wrong and uphold integrity.

  • Empathy: the capacity to understand others and build meaningful connections.

  • Curiosity: a passion for exploring across different fields of knowledge.

We emphasize active inquiry, independent thinking, and collaboration, because these abilities will accompany children through a future full of challenges and opportunities.

At the same time, China’s 15th Five‑Year Plan highlights the integration of education, technology, and talent. Our school’s direction aligns with this vision—cultivating children’s pursuit of truth, their humanistic care, and their sense of responsibility to family and nation, laying a solid foundation for the future world.

Finally, I wish to speak directly to parents: please give your children the space to choose, respect their dreams, and allow them to decide their own path. As parents, we do not need to pave the road for them; we only need to walk alongside with patience, support, and trust. For only children with confidence and courage can live abundant lives, contribute to society, and shine as salt and light—illuminating themselves and blessing others.
