Our school, located in Tuen Mun, has been nurturing children in our estate-based campus for 36 years. This year, four of our young athletes—two current K3 students and two graduates now in Primary One—made history as the first young students from Hong Kong, China to participate in the International Taekwondo Competition held in Osaka on April 25 and 26, 2026.
Since last year, they have been learning Taekwondo at school, progressing from white belt to yellow belt, and advancing from local Hong Kong competitions to the Greater Bay Area, and now onto the international stage. Along the way, they endured the pain of stretching until tears, and have grown to the point where they now warm up proactively before matches—every step marked by perseverance.
In this competition, they brought honor to themselves, their families, our school, and all young students:
Our current K3 students won the Gold Award in the team event, and additionally secured one gold and one silver in individual events.
Our Primary One graduates earned two bronze medals in individual events.
Altogether, they achieved an impressive tally of two golds, one silver, and two bronzes—a remarkable result for their very first overseas world-class competition.
Behind the smiles were also tears, as the children came to understand the truth that “there is always someone stronger.” Even with two hundred percent effort, there can only be one champion. The real lesson lies in: practicing diligently, enjoying the competition, and being grateful for the results.
May these children continue to grow, surpassing their own limits day by day, always brave enough to challenge themselves, and becoming the No.1 in their own lives.
I also extend my heartfelt gratitude to the coaches, vice principal, head teachers, parents, and classmates. Their willingness to attend at their own expense and actively support the children made this outstanding achievement possible. Truly, this is a blessing for students from Hong Kong, China.
